Event Info:

The Good Times ? ~ ? Dancing In The Street ?

For ‘Release 001’ of our new party series, The Good Times, we invite you to travel back with us to the early-mid 1960s, the period in which a seminal Detroit-based record label became a force for huge social and cultural change in America, forging a legacy as being one of the most significant musical accomplishments and stunning success stories of the 20th century.

On 14 April 1960, Berry Gordy Jr. incorporated the Motown Records Corporation and the rest, as they say, is history. The ‘Motown Sound’ took the world by storm, transforming America, and defining the sound of a generation. Discovering and nurturing artists such as the Miracles, Diana Ross and the Supremes, Marvin Gaye, The Temptations, Michael Jackson and The Jackson 5, and Stevie Wonder amongst many, many others, the label released more than 180 #1 records worldwide. No other record company in history has exerted such an enormous influence on both the style and substance of popular music and culture! Join us at the launch soiree of The Good Times as we celebrate the Motown Records musical empire.

Line up

Music on the night across three rooms will be supplied by:
>> West Grand Boulevard [Motown]: DJ Babes
>> The Bronx [hip hop]: Gav Miller & Mahdi Ben Hamou
>> Studio 24 [disco, soul, funk]: Natasha Kitty Katt

In-keeping with the spirit of The Good Times, when the focus was on the music and not the DJ, we are saying little else about our musical selectors other than they’re all playing from doors opening to closing. Expect a full evening of dancing and hands in the air sing-a-long, feel good anthems.

The Good Times’ launch soiree, Release 001: Dancing In The Street, is taking place on Friday 23rd February at Bourbon on Frederick Street. We’re going to be transporting you back to 1960s Motor City with decor, visuals, gifts, and other surprises along the way.

We firmly believe the good times don’t need to cost the earth, so we’re releasing 500 complimentary tickets (190 spaces will then be kept for the door) which will grant the holder FREE entry before 11.30pm. These tickets will be released on Monday (05/02) at 9am.

We’re also linking-up with the venue’s American diner, Cock & Bull Kitchen, to offer a music-focused dining experience before the party itself. The soundtrack to this meal will also be supplied by Natasha Kitty Katt. Info on this experience to follow.
